It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if not provided the chance.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

If this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Many contend the reasoning behind final game tension. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was dismissed Australia needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the last rival teams at this World Cup should hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have pushed back plans to retire, this tournament is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
