19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a challenging period, winning just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

Success also signifies he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an better service.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to force a decider.

He defended 4 early chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
